Mentor Safety Village partnered with the Ohio Division of Watercraft and built a boating and water safety education unit. This 27 foot boating simulator is complete with a video and hydraulics that can teach 25 people boating and water safety at a time. Of course, you can't get on unless you Wear It!

Preserve Your Life, Wear a Life Preserver Program
Palm Beach County, Florida--On Saturday September 4th, the Drowning Prevention Coalition of PB County kicked off the "Wear It" life preserver campaign. The campaign was also supported by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and the PBC Fire Rescue Volunteer Battalion. These three organizations handed out free, life preserver stickers and other boating information at Peanut Island and Phil Foster Park as well as on the water. Boaters were encouraged to place the sicker in a prominent position on their boat so as to serve as a reminder of the importance of life preservers. All boats must have a life preserver on board for each person , and children under 6 aboard a boat under 26 feet long must wear one whenever the vessel is under way. The campaign was very well received by the public and the media.

NSBC's Fred Messman comments: "When we visited the Sheraton on our site visit for the 2012 Summit, the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau arranged for a boat tour of San Diego Harbor with a drop off at the Sheraton's boat docks. This was the site of the 2008 Summit. To greet us as we entered the marina was the chef for the Sheraton, Steve Black, in his chef uniform, in his personal boat, WEARING his PFD. That was a great testament to the impressions we made even on the hotel staff. I thought it would be fun to share this very impressive moment on our tour.

Gary Thornbury filled out a pledge card and received this life jacket at Buck Creek Lake
at Springfield, Ohio Area Office's Wear It Ohio! campaign event. He then
